August 7, 2004: I started at the bottom of the Bear Claw Poppy/Green Valley "Loop." I did the ride as an out and back so as to skip the road section. I started early in the morning. The shale hills were a ton of fun riding up and down. Please be a responsible rider, and stay on the trail.
The slope former in the foreground is the Triassic Moenkopi Formation. Shinarump Conglomerate of the Chinle Fm. caps the mesas in the background. The Shinarump is the rock exposed at Gooseberry Mesa and Little Creek Mountain.
